Makes Dead Alive look like Monsters Inc. Went from brutally violent to funny to brutally violent-er to sick to art. Even true gore-hounds like Rob Zombie will have a hard time creating parallels to this film in our watered-down contemporary horror movie arena of the 21st century with so much predjudice against horror flicks that get dismissed as cinimatic trash once they cross the line of blood and guts. I think Devil's Rejects/House of 1000 Corpses is the closest mainstream counterpart to this movie that come to mind since most other attempts to add documentaristic or "aren't we the real monsters" tints to movies come off as cliches that seem afraid to get really raw.
